Broadway Pirates 'Taster Evening'

We are pleased to announce that Iain Waddell has been appointed as our Producer/Director for this show, bringing with him his vast experience in both performing and directing.

We are having a 'taster evening' on Monday 4th July, 7.30pm at the Methodist Hall where Iain will be presenting his ideas and hear some music so that you can get an idea of what the show is about. Please bring as many friends along as you can as we need to gauge the interest in the show to ensure we can stage it - particularly men as we need Pirates of course!

Rehearsals will start at 7.30pm on Monday 5th September 2011 at the Methodist Church Hall, Chapel St, Astwood Bank.

Nomination for Best Production - The Mikado

We are delighted to announce that our 2006 production of The Mikado was nominated for Best Production in the West Midlands area. We were narrowly pipped by the eventual winner, but nevertheless, we would like to thank our producer Joy Vater and musical director Norma Kift for helping create such a wonderful, memorable production.

Palace Theatre Restorations

The Palace Theatre in Redditch has recently re-opened after a year-long restoration after winning a grant of £920,500 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) as part of a £3.77 million scheme to restore the Grade II listed theatre to its former glory.

As part of the restoration, many of the internal and external features, such as the windows, light fixtures and decorations, have been returned to their original 1913 design. The project also included the removal of all the 1970s additions to the building, and the creation of a new foyer and much improved visitor facilities.

The building is one of the few remaining historic buildings in Redditch and therefore has great importance for the town's residents. Experts agree that the Palace is a rare example of Edwardian theatre architecture and is one of only six examples that can be wholly attributed to its famous designer Bertie Crewe.

The Palace Theatre is, once again, one of the finest examples of an Edwardian theatre in the country.
